Internet Setup And Repair

How to Connect Your Internet, WiFi and Phone

Many economic wiring services can be installed yourself with a few simple steps. If you have a wall plate connection like the ones pictured below, follow the instructions to install your Spectra Internet and WiFi, Business Phone, or both.

Note: If you’re installing both internet and business phone services, it doesn’t matter which you install first. However, if you start with internet, you’ll need to complete activation before you can start installing business phone.

Connecting your Internet and WiFi Service

Step 1: Locate the Ethernet Port

In most businesses, the Ethernet port will be installed within a Spectra-branded wall plate in common locations.

However, some businesses don’t have a wall plate; therefore, the Ethernet port will need to be accessed directly from the Optical Network Unit, which is typically installed in a media panel.

Step 2: Connect WiFi Router

The connections are on the back of the router.

  1. Connect the Ethernet cable to the ethernet port, and the internet port on the back of the WiFi router.
  2. Connect the power cable to the WiFi router and an electrical outlet.
  3. After a few minutes, the Online status light on the router will turn from flashing to solid. If the router requires an update, this may take up to 10 minutes. When the light turns solid, the router is connected.

Step 3: Connect Your Device to the WiFi Network

You’ll find the information necessary to continue on the side of your router.

  1. Open the WiFi settings on your device (smartphone, laptop or tablet).
  2. Select your Default WiFi Network Name.
  3. Enter the password printed on the WiFi router.

Step 4: Activate Your Router

Visit activate and follow the prompts to activate your service.

Connecting your Spectra Business Phone Service

Step 1: Locate Your Phone Port

Your phone port may be located on the same spot as your Ethernet port, or it may be in a separate wall plate.

Step 2: Connect Your Phone to the Wall Plate

Connect one end of your phone cable to the phone port of the wall plate, then connect the other end of the port on your phone.

Step 3: Activate Your Service

Unplug the power cord from your modem and remove any batteries.

Wait at least 60 seconds, then plug the modem back in and wait until the modem is fully powered on.

Wait at least two minutes to allow the modem to power up. The modem’s lights should gradually turn on to confirm the device has power and is connected to the internet.

Plug the router back in. Wait two minutes for the router to power on and reconnect to the internet.A Spectra technician will install an LTE modem, external LTE antenna and battery backup device to sit behind your regular modem and router. You can choose up to four critical devices that can be connected to this modem via Ethernet.

If an outage occurs, the backup system will activate automatically, keeping your devices online.
